Mepitel One is Molnlycke's one-sided soft silicone wound contact layer with Safetac technology. Unlike the original two-sided Mepitel, Mepitel One has Safetac adhesive on one side only and a transparent, flexible perforated polyurethane film on the other. This makes it easier to handle during application and allows it to be used either with a secondary absorbent dressing for exuding wounds or as a stand-alone protective dressing on damaged or fragile skin. It is designed for skin tears, skin abrasions, surgical incisions, partial thickness burns, traumatic wounds, skin grafts, radiated skin, and leg and foot ulcers. Mepitel One consists of a Safetac soft silicone wound contact layer on one side and a thin, transparent, perforated polyurethane film on the other. The perforations allow wound exudate to pass through into a secondary absorbent dressing when one is used. Because the adhesive is on one side only, Mepitel One does not adhere to the wound bed, reducing pain and trauma during dressing changes.
Mepitel One can also serve as a stand-alone dressing for protection of damaged, fragile, or at-risk skin without a secondary dressing. This versatility makes it suitable for a broader range of clinical situations than the original Mepitel. The transparent film allows visual monitoring of the wound or skin underneath without removing the dressing.
Like all Mepitel products, Mepitel One uses Safetac adhesive that does not increase in adhesion over time, does not leave residue, and does not stick to moist wound surfaces. It can be used under compression bandaging and allows topical treatments to be applied through the open structure where clinically indicated.

What is the difference between Mepitel One and the original Mepitel?
The original Mepitel has Safetac silicone adhesive on both sides with an open polyamide mesh. Mepitel One has Safetac on one side only with a perforated polyurethane film backing. The one-sided adhesion makes Mepitel One easier to handle and allows it to be used as a stand-alone protective dressing without a secondary dressing, which the original Mepitel cannot do.
Can Mepitel One be used without a secondary dressing?
Yes. Mepitel One can be used as a stand-alone dressing for protection of damaged or fragile skin. When used on exuding wounds, a secondary absorbent dressing should be placed on top to manage the exudate that passes through the perforations.
What sizes does Mepitel One come in?
Mepitel One is available in eight sizes: 5 x 7.5 cm (10 per box), 6 x 7 cm (5 per box), 9 x 10 cm (5 per box), 7.5 x 10 cm (10 per box), 13 x 15 cm (5 per box), 10 x 18 cm (10 per box), 17 x 25 cm (5 per box), and 27.5 x 50 cm (2 per box). All dressings are individually sterile packed.
Can Mepitel One be used on radiated skin?
Yes. Mepitel One is indicated for use on radiated skin. For radiotherapy skin reaction prevention specifically, Molnlycke also offers Mepitel Film, which is a transparent breathable film dressing with clinical evidence for that use case.
