Like all Mepilex products, Heel dressings feature a Safetac silicone wound contact layer that adheres gently to intact skin without sticking to the moist wound bed. This allows painless dressing changes, minimizes trauma to fragile skin, and permits the dressing to be lifted for wound inspection without losing adhesion.
This collection includes 1 standard Mepilex Heel (13 cm x 20 cm) and 2 Mepilex Heel Ag versions with silver sulfate antimicrobial (13 cm x 20 cm and 15 cm x 22 cm). The Ag versions provide sustained antimicrobial protection for wounds that show signs of infection or are at high risk of infection. All are sold in boxes of sterile dressings.

When should I choose Mepilex Heel Ag over standard Mepilex Heel?
Mepilex Heel Ag contains silver sulfate for antimicrobial protection and is designed for heel wounds that show signs of infection or are at high risk of infection. The silver inactivates wound-related pathogens for up to 7 days. If the wound is not infected or at risk, the standard Mepilex Heel without silver is appropriate. Consult your healthcare provider.
Does Mepilex Heel require secondary fixation?
Yes. Mepilex Heel is a non-bordered dressing and requires secondary fixation to hold it in place. A retention bandage such as Tubifast is commonly used.
