Mepore Film is a transparent, breathable film dressing from Mölnlycke for clean, non-exuding wounds. The thin polyurethane film is moisture vapour permeable, allowing excess moisture to escape while maintaining a moist wound environment. Mepore Film is viral and bacteria proof, impermeable to fluids, and provides a reliable barrier against outside contamination. Available in 3 sterile sizes.

Mepore Film does not have an absorbent pad — it is a transparent film only. This makes it ideal as a primary dressing on clean, non-exuding wounds in the granulation phase, or as a secondary dressing to secure other wound care products in place. Common uses include covering IV catheter sites, superficial abrasions, closed surgical wounds, and protecting intact skin at risk of breakdown from friction or moisture.

The skin-friendly polyacrylic adhesive provides secure fixation, and the supporting release paper with frame makes application straightforward, even when wearing gloves. The transparent backing allows visual monitoring of the wound site without removing the dressing.

Mepore Film is available in 3 sizes: 6 x 7cm (100/box), 10 x 12.7cm (70/box), and 10 x 25cm (20/box).

If you need a transparent dressing with an absorbent pad, see Mepore Film & Pad Dressings. For a standard absorbent dressing with a water-repellent backing, see Mepore Dressings.

Mepore Film FAQ ▾
What is the difference between Mepore Film and Mepore Film & Pad?

Mepore Film is a transparent film only — it has no absorbent pad. It is used on clean, non-exuding wounds or as a secondary dressing. Mepore Film & Pad combines a transparent showerproof film with an absorbent wound pad for wounds that produce light to moderate exudate and need both visibility and absorption.

Is Mepore Film waterproof?

Yes. Mepore Film is waterproof and impermeable to fluids, viruses, and bacteria. It can be worn while showering or bathing. However, it does not have an absorbent pad, so it should only be used on non-exuding wounds.

Can Mepore Film be used as a secondary dressing?

Yes. Mepore Film is commonly used as a secondary dressing to secure primary wound care products, cover IV catheter sites, or protect intact skin from friction and moisture damage.

What sizes does Mepore Film come in?

Mepore Film is available in three sizes: 6 x 7cm (100/box), 10 x 12.7cm (70/box), and 10 x 25cm (20/box). All sizes are individually packaged and sterile.

Do you ship Mepore Film across Canada?
