Mefix tape is available in 6 widths - 2.5cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm, and 30cm - all on 10 metre rolls in dispenser boxes. The tape is non-sterile and can be cut to any length. Choose a narrower width (2.5cm or 5cm) for securing tubing, cannulas, or small dressings. Choose a wider width (10cm to 30cm) for fixing larger wound dressings on the torso, back, or limbs.

Mefix is commonly used alongside Molnlycke wound care products such as Exufiber, Mepilex, and Mepitel dressings that require secondary fixation. It is sold individually, 1 roll per box.

Frequently Asked Questions ▾
What widths does Mefix tape come in?

Mefix is available in 6 widths: 2.5cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm, and 30cm. All widths come on 10 metre (11 yard) rolls in dispenser boxes. Choose a narrower width for securing tubing or small dressings, and a wider width for fixing larger wound dressings.

Is Mefix tape gentle on the skin?

Yes. Mefix uses an acrylate adhesive that is designed to provide secure fixation while remaining gentle on the skin. It has been tested as non-sensitising and non-irritating. The nonwoven fabric is also breathable and water-resistant, which helps reduce skin irritation during wear.

What is Mefix tape used for?

Mefix can be used wherever self-adhesive fixation is required. Common uses include securing wound dressings, tubes, and cannulas. It is often used as a secondary fixation layer over primary wound contact dressings that do not have their own adhesive border.

Is Mefix sterile?

No. Mefix is a non-sterile fixation tape. It is used as a secondary fixation layer over sterile primary dressings, not as a wound contact dressing itself. The tape is cut to the desired length before use.

How do you apply Mefix tape?

Cut the tape to the desired length. Separate the two parts of the protective backing by lightly stretching and bending the tape, then remove the narrow part. Apply the exposed adhesive to the skin, then remove the remaining backing. Smooth firmly for proper adhesion. Do not stretch Mefix when applying.
