Aquacel Surgical Cover dressings in Canada — shop ConvaTec's post-operative cover dressings designed specifically for surgical incisions. These are single-product solutions that combine a Hydrofiber wound contact pad, a skin-friendly hydrocolloid border, and a waterproof polyurethane film — everything needed to protect an incision site in one dressing.

How Aquacel Surgical Cover dressings work: The inner Hydrofiber pad sits over the incision and gels on contact with wound fluid, absorbing serosanguinous drainage while contouring to the suture or staple line. The hydrocolloid border provides comfortable, flexible adhesion that moves with the body — important for post-surgical mobility. The outer polyurethane film provides a waterproof, bacterial, and viral barrier (when intact and without leakage), allowing patients to shower with the dressing in place.

Silver (Ag) vs. non-silver: This collection includes both versions. The 5 Aquacel Ag Surgical Cover dressings contain ionic silver in the Hydrofiber pad, providing sustained antimicrobial activity for up to 14 days to help reduce the risk of surgical site infection. The 5 Aquacel Surgical Cover dressings (without "Ag" in the name) use the same construction but without silver — your surgeon or wound care clinician will determine which is appropriate for your procedure.

Sizes available: All dressings are 9 cm wide with lengths ranging from 10 cm to 35 cm, designed to cover incisions of varying lengths. These dressings should not be cut — choose the size that covers the full length of the incision with overlap on each end. All products are sterile, latex-free, and sold by the box.

Important note: Aquacel Surgical Cover dressings contain porcine gelatine. If this is a concern, discuss alternative dressing options with your clinician.

Finding your product: Use the Sort option to view by price or alphabetically. If you know your exact SKU or incision length, the search bar at the top of the page is the fastest way to find it. For wound management dressings (not post-surgical), see the Aquacel Ag Foam Adhesive or Aquacel Foam Adhesive collections. For all Aquacel product lines, visit the Aquacel hub page.

Aquacel Surgical Cover Dressings FAQ

What is the difference between Aquacel Ag Surgical and Aquacel Surgical (without Ag)?
Both use the same combination construction — Hydrofiber pad, hydrocolloid border, and waterproof polyurethane film. The "Ag" versions add ionic silver to the Hydrofiber pad, providing antimicrobial protection for up to 14 days to help reduce the risk of surgical site infection. The non-Ag versions do not contain silver. Your surgeon or wound care clinician will determine which is appropriate based on the procedure and infection risk.
What size Aquacel Surgical Cover dressing do I need?
All dressings in this collection are 9 cm wide. Lengths range from 10 cm to 35 cm. Choose a length that fully covers your incision with some overlap on each end. The five available lengths are 10 cm, 15 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, and 35 cm — each available in both Ag (silver) and non-Ag versions. These dressings should not be cut, so select the size closest to your incision length without leaving the wound exposed.
Can I shower with an Aquacel Surgical Cover dressing?
Yes. The outer polyurethane film provides a waterproof barrier, allowing patients to shower with the dressing in place. However, the dressing should not be submerged in water during bathing or swimming. If the dressing edges lift or the seal is compromised after showering, contact your clinician — a compromised seal reduces the dressing's protective barrier.
How long can Aquacel Surgical Cover dressings be worn?
Wear time depends on the surgical procedure, drainage levels, and your clinician's instructions. The dressing should be changed if it becomes saturated, if the seal is broken, or if there are signs of infection. The Ag versions provide antimicrobial activity for up to 14 days, but dressing change frequency is determined by your surgical team based on your individual recovery.
How is Aquacel Surgical Cover different from Aquacel Foam dressings?
Aquacel Surgical Cover dressings are specifically designed for closed surgical incisions — they use a hydrocolloid border that flexes with body movement and a narrow rectangular shape sized for incision lines. Aquacel Foam dressings are designed for open, exuding wounds and use a foam pad for higher absorption with a silicone adhesive border. If you need a dressing for a wound rather than a surgical incision, see the Aquacel Ag Foam or Aquacel Foam collections.
