Melgisorb Ag Antimicrobial Alginate Cavity Dressing 3 x 44cm
Melgisorb Ag 3 x 44cm is an antimicrobial alginate cavity dressing from Molnlycke designed for packing into deep wounds, tunnelling wounds, and sinus tracts with moderate to heavy exudate where antimicrobial protection is needed. Each sterile rope is composed of calcium alginate and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) fibres with an ionic silver complex that releases silver ions on contact with wound exudate. As wound fluid is absorbed, the alginate forms a gel that aids autolytic debridement while maintaining a moist healing environment. The gel formation supports intact removal without damage to healing tissue. In vitro testing shows the antimicrobial effect is sustained for up to 14 days. Melgisorb Ag can also help reduce wound odour. The cavity format is loosely packed into the wound, ensuring the dressing does not overlap the wound margins. Each box contains 10 individually packaged sterile cavity dressings.

Who Is It For
Melgisorb Ag 3 x 44cm Cavity is indicated for moderate to heavily exuding partial to full thickness deep wounds including post-operative wounds, trauma wounds, leg ulcers, pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, graft and donor sites, cavity wounds, and superficial and partial thickness burns. It may be used in the management of infected wounds under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Requires a non-occlusive secondary dressing for fixation.
