This is a latex Foley catheter made by Medline with a layer of silicone elastomer coating the latex body. The silicone coating sits between the latex and body tissue, which makes the catheter softer to the touch and resists hard mineral build-up over time. Large, oval-shaped drainage eyes help urine flow steadily.
Size 16 Fr is one of the most common adult sizes. The larger 30 mL balloon is used after bladder or prostate surgery when more retention pressure is needed to keep the catheter in place.
