Who Is It For
Tegaderm Transparent Window Dressings are commonly used to cover and protect IV catheter sites, clean closed surgical wounds, skin graft donor sites, and minor abrasions. They can also maintain a moist wound environment to support autolytic debridement. The dressing is radiologically transparent and does not need to be removed for diagnostic x-rays or radiation therapy. It can also be used as a protective eye covering to help maintain moisture during surgery or for patients with a corneal abrasion.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes does the Tegaderm Window Dressing come in?
The window dressing is available in three sizes: 4.4 cm x 4.4 cm, 6 cm x 7 cm, and 10 cm x 12 cm. The two larger sizes include a printed label area for documenting dressing change dates. Each box contains either 100 or 50 dressings depending on the size selected.
Is the Tegaderm Window Dressing sterile?
Yes, each Tegaderm Window Dressing is individually sterile-packed and suitable for direct wound contact. This is a key difference from the Tegaderm Transparent Film Roll, which is non-sterile and intended for use as a secondary dressing or for device fixation only.
How long can the Tegaderm Window Dressing be worn?
The dressing may be worn for up to 7 days, depending on the wound condition and your clinician's recommendation. It is waterproof and can be worn during bathing or showering. Change the dressing sooner if it becomes loose, damaged, or if excessive fluid builds up underneath. Always consult your healthcare provider for guidance specific to your situation.
What types of wounds can the Tegaderm Window Dressing be used on?
The dressing is commonly used on IV catheter sites, clean closed surgical incisions, skin graft donor sites, first and second degree burns, minor abrasions, and superficial pressure injuries. It can also maintain a moist wound environment to support autolytic debridement. Always follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider for your specific wound type.
What is the picture-frame delivery system?
The picture-frame design is a rigid paper border around the dressing that holds it flat during application. It allows you to position the dressing accurately over the wound or catheter site before pressing it down, reducing the chance of the adhesive sticking to gloves or folding onto itself. Once the dressing is in place, you simply peel away the frame.
