A manual resuscitator is used to deliver positive-pressure breaths to a patient who is not breathing or is breathing inadequately. Squeezing the bag pushes air through a face mask and one-way valve to the patient.
The attached oxygen reservoir bag lets the device deliver a higher concentration of oxygen when connected to a supplemental O₂ source.
