Avant is Medline's gauze line. Non-woven gauze is made from blended fibres (rayon and polyester) pressed together rather than loom-woven. The fabric is softer than cotton gauze, leaves fewer loose fibres in a wound, and absorbs about as well.
These 2 x 2 inch sponges are non-sterile, so they are a good fit for tasks where sterility is not required — cleaning around a dressing, prepping skin before antiseptic, or soaking up small amounts of fluid.
