What's in This Collection
This collection covers the full range of ostomy accessories — the products used alongside your pouching system to protect peristomal skin, achieve a secure seal, manage odour, and maintain comfort day to day. Products are organized below by category to help you find what you need quickly. Brands represented include Hollister (Adapt, M9, Flextend), ConvaTec (Stomahesive, AllKare, Duolock), Coloplast (Brava, Brava Mio, Peristeen), Salts, Eakin, and several independent suppliers.
Skin Barriers, Rings, and Seals
Barrier rings and seals fill the gap between your stoma and the skin barrier opening, creating a smooth seal that protects peristomal skin from output contact. Options include flat rings for standard stomas, convex rings (Adapt CeraRing Convex, Adapt Convex Barrier Rings, Harmony Duo Convexity) for retracted or flush stomas, oval convex rings for irregular stoma shapes, and slim rings for tighter fit profiles. Eakin Cohesive products (seals, slims, stomawrap, paste, and sheet barriers) are designed to mold to the skin contour without adhesive, making them suitable for sensitive or irregular peristomal skin. Brava Skin Barrier Rings and Mouldable Rings from Coloplast serve a similar function. Salts Mouldable Seals include aloe-infused options and pre-cut starter holes. Stomahesive Paste and Brava Ostomy Paste fill irregular skin creases around the stoma to improve barrier adhesion. Protective skin barrier sheets (Stomahesive, Brava, Flextend, Hollihesive, Securi-T, Premium) provide cut-to-fit coverage for peristomal skin that needs extra protection.
Adhesive Removers and Skin Prep
Removing an ostomy barrier without damaging the skin requires a proper adhesive remover. Options in this collection include sprays (Adapt No-Sting Medical Adhesive Remover, Salts Adhesive Remover Spray with Mint, ESENTA Sting-Free Skin Barrier Spray), wipes (Salts Adhesive Remover Wipes, AllKare Protective Barrier Wipe, Universal Remover Wipes, Skin Gel Protective Wipes, Brava Baby Adhesive Remover Wipe), and foam applicators (Peri-Prep Sensitive No-Sting Protective Film). Skin prep wipes and barrier films protect peristomal skin before applying the barrier. If you have sensitive skin, no-sting and alcohol-free formulations are available across several brands.
Odour Control and Deodorants
Odour management is one of the most common accessory needs for ostomy users. This collection includes internal deodorant drops added directly to the pouch (Just-A-Drop, M9 Odour Eliminator Drops, Eucalyptus Just-A-Drop, Liquid Ostomy Deodorant, Adapt Lubricating Deodorant), room/air sprays (Just-A-Spray, M9 Odour Eliminator Spray, Freshaire Odour Eliminating Spray, No-Roma Deodorant, Metrimist, Hex-On, Spray Odour Eliminating), and pouch filters (Replacement Filters, Filtrodor Pouch Filter). M9 Cleaner/Decrystallizer is specifically designed to clean and deodorize urostomy pouches and equipment.
Belts, Closures, and Practical Accessories
Ostomy belts provide additional support to keep the pouching system secure, especially during activity. Belt options include the Adapt Ostomy Belt (medium and large), Brava Adjustable Ostomy Belt, Brava Mio Belt, Pouchkins Pediatric Ostomy Belt, and general adjustable belts in multiple sizes. The Drypro Waterproof Ostomy Protector (small and medium) allows swimming and bathing while keeping the pouching system dry. Tail closures — Duolock Curved and Straight, Drainable Pouch Clamp, Securi-T Tail Closure — are replacement closures for drainable pouches. Flange extenders (Salts, Adapt Barrier Extenders, Brava Elastic Barrier Strips in straight and wishbone shapes) extend the perimeter of the barrier to improve adhesion and security. Flushable Pouch Liners reduce pouch cleaning and are available in two sizes. The Seal and Toss Ostomy Disposal System provides discreet pouch disposal.
Finding Your Product
Use the brand filter to narrow by Hollister, ConvaTec, Coloplast, Salts, or Eakin. For barrier rings and seals, the most important variable is your stoma size — confirm your stoma diameter before selecting a ring size. For adhesive removers and skin prep, check whether your skin is sensitive to alcohol before selecting a formulation. If you are unsure which accessory is right for your specific pouching system, contact us or consult your ostomy nurse.
Ostomy Accessories FAQ
What is the difference between a flat barrier ring and a convex barrier ring?
A flat barrier ring sits flush against the skin and is designed for standard stomas that protrude adequately above the skin surface. A convex barrier ring has an outward curve that pushes gently into the peristomal skin around the stoma, which helps bring a flush, retracted, or inverted stoma outward for a better seal. Using a convex ring on a stoma that does not need convexity can cause skin pressure injury, so convex accessories should only be used when recommended by your ostomy nurse. Oval convex rings are designed for stomas with an irregular or oval shape where a round ring does not fit the contour evenly.
Do I need to use an adhesive remover to take off my ostomy barrier?
Using an adhesive remover is strongly recommended for most ostomy users. Removing an ostomy barrier by pulling it away from the skin without a remover can cause mechanical skin trauma — stripping the outer layer of skin over time and leading to peristomal skin breakdown. Adhesive remover sprays or wipes dissolve the adhesive bond gently, allowing the barrier to be lifted away without pulling. No-sting and alcohol-free formulations are available for users with sensitive skin. After removing the barrier with a remover, clean the peristomal skin thoroughly before applying the new barrier.
What is ostomy paste used for and is it the same as a barrier ring?
Ostomy paste and barrier rings serve a similar purpose — filling uneven skin contours around the stoma to improve the seal — but they are applied differently. Paste (Stomahesive Paste, Brava Ostomy Paste, Salts No-Sting Stoma Paste, Adapt Paste) is squeezed into skin folds, creases, or irregular areas before the barrier is applied, smoothing the surface for better adhesion. Barrier rings are pre-formed moldable rings that are shaped by hand and pressed around the stoma opening. Some users use paste and rings together. Note that most ostomy pastes contain alcohol, which can sting on broken skin — alcohol-free options like Brava Ostomy Paste Alcohol Free are available for sensitive or irritated skin.
How do internal ostomy deodorant drops work?
Internal deodorant drops (Just-A-Drop, M9 Odour Eliminator Drops, Eucalyptus Just-A-Drop, Liquid Ostomy Deodorant, Adapt Lubricating Deodorant) are placed directly inside the pouch before wearing it or after emptying. They work by neutralizing or masking odour from inside the pouch, reducing the chance of odour escaping when the pouch is opened for emptying. Lubricating deodorants also coat the inside of the pouch to help output slide toward the drain outlet, making emptying easier and reducing residue buildup. These products are separate from the integrated charcoal filters found on many pouches, which vent gas passively. Using both an internal deodorant and a filtered pouch provides the most comprehensive odour management.
Can I swim or shower with an ostomy pouch?
Yes — most ostomy skin barriers are water-resistant and remain secure during showering. Swimming is also possible for most ostomy users, though prolonged submersion may begin to affect barrier adhesion depending on the product. The Drypro Waterproof Ostomy Protector is a waterproof sleeve designed to fully cover and protect the pouching system during water activities, providing an additional layer of protection against water exposure. If your pouch has an integrated charcoal filter, note that filters stop functioning when wet — some users cover the filter with the adhesive sticker included in the box, or switch to an unfiltered pouch for water activities. Your ostomy nurse can advise on the best approach for your specific pouching system and activity level.
